Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This policy explains what EXG Gaming collects when you visit experimental-gameplay.org, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how to have it removed.

The short version
  • You can read the whole site without giving us anything.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not run a mailing list you did not ask for.
  • Analytics and advertising partners set their own cookies. You can refuse them.
  • Email us at any time and we will delete what we hold about you.

Who we are

EXG Gaming publishes Minecraft news, guides, mods and seeds at experimental-gameplay.org. We are an independent site with no connection to Mojang Studios or Microsoft.

For anything in this policy, write to [email protected].

What we collect

Things you send us

  • Contact messages. The contact form on this site opens your own mail application – nothing is sent to our server. Once you email us, we hold your address and message for as long as it takes to deal with it, then delete it.
  • Comments. If commenting is enabled on a post and you leave one, WordPress stores the name, email and text you submit, along with your IP address and browser user agent. This helps with spam detection. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies stay readable.

Things collected automatically

  • Server logs. Our host records standard request data – IP address, browser, referring page, time of request. This is used for security and troubleshooting and is rotated out on the host’s normal schedule.
  • Analytics. We use analytics to see which pages are read and where readers arrive from. It tells us that a guide is popular, not who you are.
  • Media metadata. If you upload an image with a comment, strip location data first – images on the web can carry it, and other visitors could read it.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site and its partners use them for a few reasons:

TypeWhat it doesCan you refuse it
Essential Keeps the site working – page caching, and remembering your name if you leave a comment so you do not retype it. Blocking these may break parts of the site.
Analytics Counts visits and page views so we know which posts are worth updating. Yes.
Advertising Used by ad partners to limit how often you see the same ad and to measure whether an ad worked. Yes.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so does not stop you reading anything here.

Advertising

This site is funded by advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Opting out means the ads you see are less relevant, not that they disappear.

Embedded content

Posts sometimes embed video or other content from other sites – a YouTube clip in a snapshot write-up, for example. Those embeds behave exactly as if you had visited the other site directly: they can collect data about you, set their own cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content. We have no control over what they collect.

Who your data is shared with

We do not sell personal data and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing. Data reaches third parties only through the services that make the site run:

  • Our hosting provider, which processes requests and keeps server logs.
  • Our analytics provider, which receives page view data.
  • Advertising partners, which serve and measure ads.
  • Spam filtering for comments, which may check comment content and IP address against a known-spam database.

If we ever receive a valid legal request for data, we will comply with it.

How long we keep things

  • Emails to us – kept until the matter is closed, then deleted.
  • Comments – kept indefinitely, so replies still make sense years later. Ask and yours will be removed.
  • Server logs – rotated out by the host, typically within weeks.
  • Analytics – retained by the analytics provider under its own schedule, in aggregate form.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and ask us to delete it. If you are in the EEA or UK, the GDPR also gives you the right to correct inaccurate data, restrict or object to processing, and complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what is collected and to ask for deletion, and we do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of this, email [email protected]. We will not ask you to prove who you are beyond confirming you control the email address involved, and there is no charge.

One exception: we cannot delete data we are legally required to keep, such as records tied to a legal or security matter.

Children

Minecraft has a young audience, so this matters here. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data – through a comment or an email – write to us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and administrator accounts use application passwords rather than shared credentials. No site can promise perfect security, but we keep WordPress and its plugins updated and limit who has access.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. Substantial changes – a new category of data, or a new kind of partner – will be noted on the page itself rather than slipped in quietly.

Questions about your data

Anything in this policy, or a request to see or delete what we hold. A person reads every message.
